Activities:

We started with our own dear Utsav flagged off by Community Networks for Manchester funding. With the Navratri workshop at home now becoming an annual feature, we participated in Platt field Diwali mela and other Diwali celebrations. Awards for All is supporting us through our Krishna projects and preparation for ISTD exams.

Learning:

We are proud of our new creation, Pinnal Kollattam and Surya namaskar. Presently we are working on our new piece, Krishna and Surya Thillana which is supported by Awards for All Funding. We have been religiously ticking the checklist for our exams which we might do sometime in July 2008. The music group have been learning Mahishasura mardhini slok and enjoying Ramayan’s essence through Hanuman Chalisa in the workshop.

Christmas Party with a difference!:

With our Community Networks for Manchester funding and Panda Incubation coming to an end this December, let’s celebrate with a special workshop for the entire family – friends, parents and children.

Didsbury Methodist Church on 18th December at 5.30 pm,

"An experience with Vedic Mathematics and Sanskrit"

By Mr. Robert Mc Neill (Head Master of St. James Junior School, Stockport) & Mrs. Margret Mc. Neill.

With the MC Neill’s passionate indulgence with their subject for more than 35 years, surely enough, as in any Upasana event the evening comes with a lot of preparation and promises. I really wish all of us can join in this special evening to pamper ourselves. From my end, I am trying to organise a simple Indian vegetarian meal so that the families need not be preoccupied with their stomachs!

Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras, or word-formulae. For example, 'Vertically and Crosswise` is one of these Sutras. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution.
